We have a new neighbor in front of Central. A hanging nest has carefully been built by one of the beautiful bright yellow and black birds that usually visit Central corridor every morning. On your way to McHenry peak you might see the active little fellow flying in or out of the nest.
We suffered a tough loss in the World Cup today, at the hands of five time winner Brasil. There was a fun group that woke up early and enjoyed the game from the second floor of Limonada. This is an area that is slowly being converted as a nice place to catch the big game.
We had an unbelievably nice day here yesterday. The perfect temperatures continue and the late afternoon/evening rains have turned everything lush and green. It is impossible not to be here right now, and acknowledge the amount of butterflies that have come in to Town. They are everywhere. It is ...
We are so very excited to see the ground breaking of the Flats on Calle Cartagena. There are eight units in what look like three townhomes along Calle Cartagena, just behind the Beach Club. There are just two units left in this building for sale, the last of their kind in this part of Town.
Well, I've been away from Las Catalinas for a few weeks and it is stunning how different it looks all decked out in its beautiful rainy season green!
I would highly recommend downloading Google Earth, and maybe even to splurge for the Pro package. It is one of those programs I really enjoy using. Being able to visit cities we love all over the world from my notebook is simply amazing. If you look at Earth, and begin to zoom in on a certain area, ...
When talking or emailing with guests soon to come, we get the question often about what the rainy or green season is like. It's fantastic! The land is lush and green, the temperature is cooler and although weather in the tropics can be unpredictable there is normally a strong daily pattern from ...
It was 77 Degrees this morning out on the trails. Some of the valleys were cooler than that. There are some low laying pockets on the way to the point, that are densely green and lush. It amazes me each year how quickly things turn green. Some of our springs are opening up, and glimpses of running ...
Today we had one of those overcast days. With all the rain, everything has now turned brilliantly green but the sky today was cool and dark. The temperatures are in the mid 70s and the winds are cool. Just perfect.
We are very excited to have more buildings starting to develop along the main road. The Camino Catalinas building is starting to take shape and unveil some of her accents. This pop of color is going to be right alongside the main road and really look great!
We have gotten some really good rains in May, and hope to see some more upcoming. An essential item this time of year are Ziploc Bags. They make all ranges these days, and are seemingly available everywhere. They are great if you are traveling and find yourself without all the dry bag gear and high ...
With the Ilan Ilan trees and jasmine bushes in bloom, Plaza Carlota is smelling fantastic.
Many trees in the mountains are now covered with purple flowers. I looked for the name of the tree online and couldn't find it anywhere. Not happy. I like knowing tree names. It was quite confusing...The barks of trees with flowers were different colours, sizes, textures and shapes. How come? ...
We enjoyed a screening of Fishpeople at the Beach Club last night with Connect Ocean. This is an inspiring film produced by the folks at Patagonia. We will have a representative from Patagonia today at Pura Vida Ride for their 7th anniversary. They will be here on site offering repairs on any ...
We received a great visit from the grupo ecológico Futuro Verde, who came for a field trip through the trails and town lead by our Agro-forestry team. One of the organizers were our friends from Abriendo Mentes who play a very important role in the community, especially with programs directed to ...
In Costa Rica we know it's May when we see the first "Abejón de mayo" (May beetle). These harmless beetles appear with the first showers of the year, which are normally in May. They are part of the Melolonthinae subfamily of the scarab beetles, a very diverse group; distributed over most of the ...
