A common question we get while talking with people interested in booking a stay in town is "how far away are the different options from the beach, the restaurant and the Beach Club?". I had an estimate but thought this morning I should actually time myself.
With summer break approaching, our Travel team is busy planning vacations. We have more and more families taking advantage of the unique learning activities that exist here. Book a trip soon and enjoy some of my favorite week long programs:
With more humidity in the air, we are getting unbelievable sunsets this week. Everyone must get down to the beach for sunset. The tide is low in the evenings, and there is a very solid swell in this week. Great surfing and body boarding at sunset is such a great way to end the day.
Calle Cartagena #11 has begun construction! With homes to the south along Calle Cartagena also underway or complete, this well proportioned home will extend the development in this section of town. It is essentially a beach front home, and is a focal point for those walking down the sand. This is ...
This week there have been large flocks of Frigate birds either flying very, very high, or flying low over the Pitaya islands.
This morning there is a lovely clear blue sky, but the first “aguacero” of the year has fallen. There was a sudden dark gray sky, a low rumble of some far away thunder, the smell we had been waiting for for months, and finally that sound of strongly pouring rain. I have always related walks in the ...
Have you ever sat near a busy, open kitchen and overheard the back-of-house team and wondered what the heck they were talking about? One of the more prominent voices you may here is that of the expeditor. This person monitors the scheduling and quality of the dishes, such as the appropriate ...

I look up at Casa Chameleon from the beach sometimes and have to start singing;
We are excited to announce the ground breaking of #5 Calle Cartagena. This is a two bedroom, three bath home at the intersection of Calle Cartagena and Puente San Miguel. This is the first of three adjacent homes designed by Costa Rican architect Lucas Rivera.
We had the first nighttime rain in quite a while. It's amazing how with just a few showers green starts popping up from the ground, in twigs and tree branches. Soon the golden mountains will be all green again.
For those riders to know, we have Ruta Central Descent back open. This was closed for a few weeks as we start work on a parking lot. This parking lot will be be available to those coming to Las Catalinas and enjoying the new Mercado area of town. All of this is under construction now. Very exciting ...
Sombra -
We enjoyed a very special inauguration of Plaza Carlota today. The plaza honors one of Charles' children, who was here with family and friends for the ceremony. It was a special moment for everyone involved, which we will remember for many years to come.
Things are really simple during sunset on the beach. They just are. We had a pot luck dinner there last night. The wind kept blowing over the water to our perch by Paseo del Mar. The cool breezes were heavy, it was the salt which was weighing them down, the wind sort of stuck to your skin. Loads of ...
