We are excited to announce the ground breaking of #5 Calle Cartagena. This is a two bedroom, three bath home at the intersection of Calle Cartagena and Puente San Miguel. This is the first of three adjacent homes designed by Costa Rican architect Lucas Rivera.
We had the first nighttime rain in quite a while. It's amazing how with just a few showers green starts popping up from the ground, in twigs and tree branches. Soon the golden mountains will be all green again.
For those riders to know, we have Ruta Central Descent back open. This was closed for a few weeks as we start work on a parking lot. This parking lot will be be available to those coming to Las Catalinas and enjoying the new Mercado area of town. All of this is under construction now. Very exciting ...

We enjoyed a very special inauguration of Plaza Carlota today. The plaza honors one of Charles' children, who was here with family and friends for the ceremony. It was a special moment for everyone involved, which we will remember for many years to come.
Things are really simple during sunset on the beach. They just are. We had a pot luck dinner there last night. The wind kept blowing over the water to our perch by Paseo del Mar. The cool breezes were heavy, it was the salt which was weighing them down, the wind sort of stuck to your skin. Loads of ...
Today, it is all about the perfect weather. We have enjoyed cooling onshore breezes blowing all day. The temperature is in the upper 80s, and the air is very dry. We have some knee high waves falling, and the water temperature is near perfect. On top of all that, we have flowers blooming throughout ...
Walking around town at night is quite magic. After certain time it is all calm and quiet, with warm lights on the streets and a few lights still on inside houses. Normally skies are full of stars, unless as these nights, the moon is so bright you can see perfectly well even in the trails and at the ...
Easter Egg hunt beach style! Hundreds of eggs at the Beach and along Paseo del Mar. It’s one of my favourite days in town, along with the TRI and Halloween. Such an anticipated hunt, specially for the the kids that live here and those coming every year... They sure help the Easter Bunny keep ...
It was nearly a year ago to the date that we celebrated the opening of beautiful Plaza Lucia. This plaza will become the classic single tree plaza of Beach Town. It is exciting to imagine her canopy providing shade in the day and filtering the moon rays in the evening. Thursday we enjoyed a small ...
Our colleague Julio took a few great pictures this morning on his way through Town. The tall tree with the yellow flowers is the Cortez Amarillo. During the dry season, these trees drop their leaves and then we get treated for a special week when the flower. These bright yellow trumpet flowers last ...
We had a blast at Circus Night. Most all of the kids in Town made it down to watch the show. The parents that were not watching, enjoyed having their own conversations and a few cocktails while the kids were occupied. Everyone wins.
Busy busy days in Limonada. For the lunch service, Chef has put up a pop up shop with Arroz con Pollo. One of my favorites for this time of year. He has also had some specials out each evening in the restaurant and live music. Very fun to see such a lively scene and folks walking around town after ...
I am always excited to share the little passageways that open up when the construction screens go down. This is a set of stairs at the south end of Plaza Central, which connects the plaza to Calle la Ronda. We did not have time to get them completed before the crew took some well earned time off, ...
Normally March in Guanacaste is quite warm, with not much wind and cloudless blue skies. This year has been slightly different: A little less hot, with more breeze and even some clouds. Two days ago, while passing by the Monkey trail a few drops fell on my windscreen from a very gray cloud. It ...
Julio is the best for keeping us up to date on what happens in town during the wee hours. This is the third time in six years he has been able to see an armadillo from up close. Thanks Julio!
