Staying Hydrated in Town

As temperatures rise in Las Catalinas, it is essential to prioritize hydration to stay healthy and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, trail riding, or beach days to the fullest. The sun can be intense in warm climates like Guanacaste, and with outdoor adventures abound, you want to take full advantage.

One of the most important things to remember is to drink water regularly, even if you do not feel thirsty. Sweating in the heat can lead to dehydration, so it's crucial to replenish fluids lost through perspiration. Opt for water as your primary source of hydration, as it is the most effective way to quench your thirst and keep your body functioning optimally. This includes hydrating our pets too.

While it may be tempting to reach for sugary drinks or alcoholic beverages, it is best to avoid them, as they can increase dehydration. Instead, choose beverages with electrolytes, such as coconut water or sports drinks, to help replenish the minerals lost through sweating.

In addition to staying hydrated from the inside out, it is also essential to protect yourself from the sun's rays. Wear loose, lightweight clothing and a hat to shield yourself from direct sunlight, and seek out shaded areas periodically to rest and cool down.

Planning is key when spending time outdoors in warm weather. Before heading to the beach or embarking on outdoor excursions, ensure you have an ample supply of water and hydrating snacks to sustain you throughout the day. By taking proactive steps to stay hydrated and protected from the sun, you can make the most of your time exploring the beautiful landscapes of Guanacaste while keeping your health and well-being in check.

In Costa Rica, including Las Catalinas and Guanacaste, tap water is safe to drink, reflecting the country's impressive access to clean drinking water thanks to the AyA, a rarity in many parts of the world. Reduce plastic waste by refilling reusable bottles at home or restaurants, or opt for the convenience of readily available bottled water at affordable prices throughout town and the Guanacaste region.

Remember, staying hydrated is key to enjoying all that Las Catalinas has to offer.
