In this Daily -- Celaje

A slightly cooler morning to start the week, with temperatures in the mid 70s, transitioning back to relatively standard conditions as we reach midday with clear skies and plentiful sun bringing the weather up to the low 80s. Humidity is very slowly dropping as we leave the green season, holding today around 75%, and we have a pleasant breeze from the northeast that should pick up to around 10mph as the day progresses, with a chance of rain mid afternoon. One of the interesting things about the gulf that Las Catalinas is located on is the ability to actually see rainstorms passing through the area in waves, and visibility should be good enough today to watch the heavier rains passing just south of us. If you find yourself up in the trails or along Playa Dantita, take a look.

One of the newest developments in town is the process of hanging lighting in Plaza Celaje, located just behind the Beach Club. Translating roughly to "Twilight Plaza", the area draws its inspiration from the concept of Celaje, which is an artistic and cultural theme present in Latin American art and architecture. Celaje has no single definition, but is instead a combination of many ideas. It's a multicolored evening of red and orange and purple and blue on the edge of sunset, it's a capturing of the subtly mystical time between day and night, it's a natural skyscape of wispy shadows and hand-painted clouds.

Plaza Celaje tries to build upon all of these concepts. The area will be built around a single central tree, whose canopy will shade the area, protect it from the elements, and create an outdoor social space suited especially well for a picnic, a dinner with friends, or a birthday party. Sunset, of course, will be the best time to enjoy Plaza Celaje, as the area comes alive with a view of the town and the ocean, all cast in colorful warm light. Sharp-eyed visitors will notice something familiar about the lighting style as well -- the hanging string lights are very similar to those used in the trees by Limonada, and aim to provide the same warm, starry atmosphere.

The plaza is still a work in progress, but these lights will be an addition that definitely make the area more beautiful.
