Having nature so close to Beach Town is definitely part of living well. We find that not having to get in a car to go do activities is one of the key ingredients here. One is more likely to be active, when it involves just walking out your front door to the sea, the mountains, or some of the lively amenities here.
Across from Plaza Central, there is a relatively new trail head which takes you up to the peak of McHenry. It is a perfect sunset hike. Plan to leave Beach Town at 4:40PM and climb to the top. Sun will set at 5:20PM, and there is just enough dusk to get you back down before dinner time.
