Last night, Las Catalinas welcomed its first substantial rainfall of the season, a refreshing sight eagerly embraced by Guanacaste. A tropical wave passes through the country this Sunday morning, amplifying a pattern of humidity, cloudiness, and precipitation as the skies remain slightly overcast. with things looking to clear up by tomorrow.
Throughout the country this morning, variable cloudiness ranging from partly to mostly cloudy will persist, with scattered showers reported in the Guanacaste region. Showers and thunderstorms are expected in regions of the Central Pacific, South, Nicoya Peninsula, and isolated areas in the Central Valley this afternoon. Evening precipitation may extend into the early night hours. Temperatures range in the mid-thirties, (or 95 Fahrenheit).
The first rain of the season occurs between May and August when fifty percent of the total rainfall occurs, a welcome part of the lifecycle of the tropical dry forest. In June, the first peak of rainfall occurs, as the southwest winds intensify, causing local storms and heavy downpours. Watching the tropical rain from your balcony is a great way to enjoy your Sunday, given that the town's outdoor living spaces are designed for these downpours.
