Forest Restoration
Las Catalinas is nestled amidst over 1,000 acres of tropical dry forest and the ocean. Preserving its lush landscape is paramount to us. We actively work to restore the area to its natural state as a tropical dry forest. By preventing fires, planting native trees, and enforcing hunting prohibitions, we ensure land thrives for generations to come.
Solid Waste Management
We are passionate about recycling and have launched an educational campaign within our community to promote responsible waste disposal. Waste in town is reduced thanks to our composting project.
Waste Water Management
Water is a precious resource in Guanacaste, and we're committed to using it wisely. The water treatment plant’s objective is not to escalate water extraction from the aquifer, but to enhance town’s water storage capacity.
Environmental Management
Upholding our environmental commitments is at the core of our operations. We adhere to strict guidelines set forth by SETENA, Costa Rica's environmental agency, to minimize our ecological footprint.
Wildlife Management and Conservation
We cherish the wildlife that calls Las Catalinas home and take proactive measures to protect it, from constructing stone watering holes to providing safe passage for animals with rope "monkey bridges." In cases of human-wildlife conflict, we ensure a humane relocation to preserve harmony between nature and urban life.
Community Impact
Las Catalinas is deeply committed to making a positive difference in local communities, through Tempate volunteer efforts organized by Finca la Estancia, and support for local non-profit organizations like Abriento Mentes and CEPIA. We actively encourage our staff, homeowners, and visitors to join us in these efforts, fostering a spirit of community engagement and collaboration.
