Clear skies and sun for the majority of the day today, with temperatures picking up quickly and peaking mid afternoon around 85. This morning was perfect for a ride along the trails before sunrise, with clear skies, middling humidity, and temperatures in the mid 70s, and as the day goes on a rising tide towards midday and low swell will set the stage for a pleasant morning at the beach for visitors of all sizes.

With the excitement of Las Catalinas's adventurous weekend winding down, it's interesting to take a look at the teams behind the scenes of the Paddle Battle and Intrepid Challenge, without whom these events would not have been possible.

During the Paddle Battle on Saturday, all lifeguarding and safety management was done with the assistance of ConnectOcean's Nipper lifeguards, a team of young volunteers who covered the entire event and helped ensure that all races went off with without a hitch. Armed with only their kayaks, brightly colored caps, and extensive training, the Nippers vigilantly covered the entire cove with a watchful eye, finishing the day without incident (except for a few spectacular paddle board wipeouts of course).

The next day during the Intrepid Challenge, the team from Las Catalinas Agroforestales played an integral role in the safety and success of the event. The Agroforestales crew helped with production of the course and its many obstacles, provided both trail guidance and support to competitors in the thick of the race, and also ensured that from beach to trails to hills and back to town all Challengers were safe. Much like their counterparts from Saturday, the Agroforestales crew saw the day out without incident, showing that even a thrilling event like the Intrepid can be done safely.

It's great to see the Las Catalinas community coming together to make events like this weekend happen. A big thanks to the Nipper team and the Agroforestales team.
