Whenever I'm watching a sunset, I normally miss the moment the sun disappears into the horizon. I’m usually distracted by everything happening around this.

It’s fascinating how sunsets are so different in different parts of the world; big cities, small cities, mountains, beaches facing the west or east, deserts, small inland villages, Northern or Southern hemisphere, riverbanks, deep forests...

Then, there is how as individuals we prefer experiencing them, either taking a walk, running, biking, or just observing. For me it’s observation.

Here on the coast, the sea plays a big role in daily life. I love watching the traffic of boats at sunset and imagining what is going on in the different watercrafts.

I wonder how the day went for the couple of fishermen in the  small “panga” that has been out since 4am fishing by hand, hoping the sea has rewarded their hard work and they are heading back home with a good quantity of red snapper to sell. A large cargo boat I see far away...What route has it followed? What is it bringing? How long have they been out? Then there are the sailing boats on their way back to the marina after a day or afternoon at sea...Maybe that boat trip was the best “together” time a family has had in years, or a random moment in that trip will become the only vague memory from this vacation a very very young child will have when they grow up (the only memory I have from Sweden is eating a bubblegum flavoured ice cream in a park). Those people coming back in a kayak, were they able to see any marine wildlife up close? It’s not every day you can go along a sea turtle…

I look forward to that time, to that moment of calm which naturally wraps up the day, that feeling of time slowing down and that sense of gladness.

The best of it all is that it happens everyday, and everywhere.

I hope you have a fantastic sunset time today.
