In this Daily -- the Plaza Celaje Lights are up
A very warm day today, with temperatures starting in the high 70s and reaching the mid to high 80s by noon, holding on for the afternoon. It'll be an excellent day to be out on the water, with a healthy offshore wind (around 8mph) keeping the 2ft swell breaking slow and steady. Up on the trails, temperatures will be perfect early in the morning and rise quickly, making a sunrise hike or bike ride just the ticket. We're also set to catch the tail end of the Geminids meteor shower tonight, which should be especially visible once the lights of town go down around 10pm.
Speaking of brightening the night sky, the Plaza Celaje lights are finally up and functioning, and are best viewed an hour or so after sunset when the sky has gone completely dark. Located in the heart of Calle Cartagena, the lights going up is one of the last details before the area is considered finished, with one major addition still to come -- the tree that will become its center piece.
At the moment, plans are to put up either a Guanacaste tree or a Ceiba (also known as a Kapok) tree, both known for their thick, widespread foliage. These trees will form the centerpiece of Plaza Celaje, providing shade and shelter and creating a natural social space to enjoy the open air in comfort.
