The first signs of the green season rhythm are here today, with clear skies and sun throughout the morning, with clouds arriving in the afternoon to bring the temperatures down to the low 80s again by nightfall. Weather radar is starting to show faint signs of precipitation in the area, so it'll be interesting to see when the May rains finally arrive.
Got word from our friends over at ConnectOcean recently that they'll be hosting a viewing of two episodes of the critically acclaimed series "Tales by Light" in the Potrero Community Center, next Thursday at 9pm. The two episodes in question, collectively titled "Paradise in Peril", speak about the successful creation of a Community Managed Marine Protected Area in Raja Ampat, Indonesia.
One of ConnectOcean's main goals is to bring one of these Marine Protected Areas to the waters offshore of Las Catalinas, which means engaging everyone from the local government to the artisanal fisherman who make their living here, to help create a sustainable way to fish, explore, and enjoy this aquatic environment.
The episodes are tremendously well done, and in between the two showings the ConnectOcean team will be speaking as to the ways that each of us can contribute in our day to day lives to the protection of our local environment.

Upcoming Event Spotlight
For today's upcoming event spotlight, we're looking at morning swimming lessons this Friday at the Beach Club. With the water around Las Catalinas set to reach prime conditions for the next few months -- warm, clear, and usually pretty calm -- there's no better time to hop into the pool to work on your strokes and your stamina. After all, being comfortable in the water is the best way to start exploring the aquatic environments around town.
