A beautiful morning to wrap up two days in Las Catalinas from a Backroads Costa Rica family expedition group. Looking out from Santarena Hotel where they’ve been staying, the sea is glassy and calm, there are a few clouds in the sky, and the breeze is gentle, setting up for a warm and sunny day for the next leg of their journey down to Quepos in Puntarenas province.

Backroads is a family-focused expedition provider that hosts week-long trips that cover much of Costa Rica, and they often spend time in Las Catalinas to enjoy the beach, the trails, and the many activities in the area. For this particular trip, the group was around town for two days, where they traveled to Las Catalinas by boat, kayaked the coast, went ziplining, and explored Town and the beach before capping their stay off with a sunset hike along the trails.
