In this Daily -- A Peculiar Set of Cosmic Coincidences

Some warm and sunny weather today, making for a great morning to be out on the trails and a pleasant beach afternoon, relatively standard for this time of year.

However, the circumstances of today are anything but ordinary. First off, it's the vernal equinox, which means that today night and day will be exactly the same length, for which an excellent visualization can be seen above, thanks to the satellite imaging from NASA. The vernal equinox marks the official start of Spring, although in Costa Rica the changing of seasons really feels like we've gone from Summer to, well, more Summer.

It's also the third and final Supermoon of the year tonight, which means that as the moon reaches full at 1:42am this evening, it will appear far larger than usual. Strange to see so many supermoons so early in the year as well, as we've already had three in the first three months.

Both of these intersteller events also correspond to low tide and sunset occurring at the same time at Las Catalinas, which is the impetus for tonight's Barrio Barbecue, and marks the last of these many unique events at the same time. So really, the barbecue tonight will be a sort of cosmic coming together of the Catalinas community. Try saying that three times fast.

Elsewhere around town, last night's Tokyo Street Food Pop-Up went off excellently, with the Seasonal Seafood Tempura bowl really blowing away expectations.

Also, don't forget to check out the newest podcast from Las Catalinas, LC Radio, coming to you with live updates as to what's going on in town and the week's can't miss events.
