In this Daily: Town’s New Year’s Resolution
Another year begins in Las Catalinas, and town moves forward into 2020 with the same resolution as it has in each of the years since the founding vision of Las Catalinas in 2006, which was touched upon again in November’s State of the Union.
In terms of the details that give a town life and character, Las Catalinas has grown in many ways.
The physical town itself has grown organically as the result of many designers, ideas, and inspirations coming together united by architectural tradition. Many shops and restaurants have come to exist here, and each represents a different contribution to what town can be as the sum of its parts. The people in the community hail from across Costa Rica and various different parts of the world, with a diverse set of talents, interests, and personalities.
However, the core values and beliefs of Las Catalinas are the same, and will hold true throughout 2020 and the many years to come.

We respect the individual, and believe that individuals who are treated with respect and given responsibility respond by giving their best.
We require complete honesty and integrity in everything we do.
We make commitments with care, and then live up to them. In all things, we do what we say we are going to do.
Work is an important part of life, and it should be fun. Creating a successful and thriving town does not mean being stuffy or boring.
We are frugal. We guard and conserve the town’s resources with at least the same vigilance that we would use to guard and conserve our own personal resources.
Clarity in understanding our mission, our goals and what we expect from each other is critical to our success.
We feel a sense of urgency on any matters related to the people around us. We own problems and we are always responsive.
We insist on giving our best effort in everything we undertake. Furthermore, we see a huge difference between “good mistakes” and “bad mistakes”.
We love Costa Rica and are a positive influence in the country.
We care about nature and will work hard to protect and enhance it.
Las Catalinas in 2020
Las Catalinas was conceived with a clear vision in mind: To create a better way to live, work and play.
Town has become a place surrounded by the beauty of craftsmanship and nature, with a vibrant community of interesting people united by the desire for a more sustainable, healthy, fulfilling and fun way of life. It is a place designed to connect people to both one another and to wildlife, with a balance of sociability and privacy that is crucial to a fulfilling life.
Las Catalinas is walkable, providing the freedom to explore, for kids to be kids, and adults to feel like kids too. Nature is preserved and protected, and is one of the most valuable parts of an active and adventurous lifestyle.
Town is welcoming to all who appreciate these same things, and starts to feel like home quickly, whether spending the day, a week, or longer.
