It is a very sunny morning with just a few clouds. We expect clouds to continue present throughout the day, specially as there is not much wind to take them away. The sun is feeling nice and warm since very early morning, and temperatures will range between mid 80s and mid 70s during the day, with water constant at mid 80s. Probability of rain is low, but in rainy season you never know!
Tomorrow is Independence day here in Costa Rica, and today as every year on September 14th at 6pm, just after dark, kids all over the country have a desfile de faroles (lantern parade). These lanterns symbolize the 19th-century journey that brought the message of Central American independence to Costa Rica.
It is a tradition for kids to have this week a faroles making session… Scissors, glue, cardboard, red, blue and white tissue paper, paint in all colours and to work! Although they tend to be made with patriotic symbols in mind, like typical “casitas”, a representation of flag, an ox cart, etc. many children get creative and mix in other elements and themes in their designs: Leaves, glitter, a cardboard football, their favourite cartoon character...The possibilities are endless. We had our faroles making time yesterday afternoon and town’s desfile de faroles will start today at 6pm, meeting at Plaza Central to start the walk that will light up the streets.
