A cool and breezy morning throughout Town, with temperatures in the high 70s, a 5mph breeze from the northeast occasionally switching onshore, and a few clouds slowly drifting out to sea. Two prominent sounds arise as you descend from the main road down through town: the gentle rustle of the foliage blowing in the wind and the intermittent chorus of local Costa Rican birdcalls, which today was predominantly paloma aliblancas / white-winged doves (zenaida asiatica), with a few other scattered calls.
Aside from these more common birdcalls, there was also some chatter from groups of pericos frente naranja / orange-fronted parakeets (eupsittula canicularis) on Paseo del Mar. These parakeets arrive in October, as part of their regional migrations, and this is the tail end of their season in the area, but there are a few groups remaining, well camouflaged in the trees but very vocal close to dawn and sunset.
