XTERRA Costa Rica returns to Las Catalinas, Guanacaste, for the second year in a row from August 22–24, 2025, transforming the coastal town into an exhilarating outdoor festival of trail running, triathlon, and open-water swimming.
Last year we had a blast, and this year we’re expecting even more excitement, energy, and participation as athletes and spectators come together once again for a one-of-a-kind weekend in Town.
Racers can choose from a variety of events, including full and sprint triathlons, open-water swims ranging from 400 m to 3.2 km, trail runs of 15.6 K and 5.5 K, and even a kids’ race.
The weekend kicks off Friday with athlete check-ins and the opening of the expo, followed by races throughout Saturday and Sunday. Over 700 participants are expected across the three-day event, with 235 already registered in triathlon, 110 in open water, and 188 in trail.
Registration is open until August 11, so if you're up for a unique off-road adventure, now’s the time to secure your spot. You can do so by clicking here, or if you need more information you can visit the XTERRA website.

Athletes will have the chance to immerse themselves in lush tropical terrain and panoramic Pacific views, with opportunities to qualify for world championship slots. If you’re just visiting or cheering on friends, the event offers a vibrant atmosphere with an expo, pasta dinner and live music.
Whether you're racing, supporting, or simply enjoying the energy of it all, it’s a great weekend to be in Town.
