XTERRA Costa Rica 2026 Is Officially Sold Out

On July 23, XTERRA Costa Rica officially announced that its 2026 edition is sold out, marking an exciting milestone with less than one month remaining before the event returns to Las Catalinas from August 21 to 23.

More than 950 athletes have registered to participate, representing countries from across the Americas and Europe, including Costa Rica, Canada, Argentina, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Mexico, El Salvador, Peru, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Spain, Nicaragua, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, and Italy. This international turnout promises to bring an incredible energy to Town as athletes, families, friends, and supporters gather for one of the most anticipated sporting weekends of the year.

The races are not the only part of the weekend filling up quickly. Santarena Hotel is also nearing full occupancy for the event. At the beginning of last week, nine rooms remained available for Friday and seven for Saturday. By the end of the week, availability had dropped to four rooms for Friday and only one for Saturday. Anyone still considering coming to support a friend, family member, or fellow athlete may want to finalize their accommodations soon.

XTERRA Swim-4

This year will also bring a historic first for Central America, as XTERRA Costa Rica prepares to welcome Alistair Brownlee, one of the most accomplished triathletes in the history of the sport. The British athlete won consecutive Olympic gold medals at London 2012 and Rio 2016, becoming the first triathlete to successfully defend an individual Olympic title. He is also a two-time World Triathlon Champion and the only athlete to have earned world titles at the junior, under-23, and elite levels before becoming an Olympic champion. His presence in Las Catalinas will make an already memorable edition of XTERRA even more special.

Whether you registered to compete or plan to cheer for someone from the sidelines, the countdown has officially begun. XTERRA Costa Rica is sold out, Town is getting ready, and in less than one month, Las Catalinas will once again come alive for an unforgettable weekend of sport, community, and international competition.
