A Closer Look at the Sea Eagle in Costa Rican Waters

Last week, the bay in front of Playa Danta received a remarkable visitor—the world's largest aluminum sailing yacht, the Sea Eagle, gracing its waters. At an impressive 266 feet in length, this majestic vessel commands attention, spanning the same distance from Las Catalinas’ main street to Pura Vida Ride.

Crafted over five years, with a year devoted solely to design, the Sea Eagle is a testament to excellent craftsmanship and visionary design, things that we respect greatly in town. Since its 2020 launch by Royal Huisman, the sailing yacht has traversed an astonishing 45,000 nautical miles, solidifying its status as one of the top ten largest sailing yachts globally and the largest aluminum-built vessel of its kind.

Recognized for exceptional naval architecture, the Sea Eagle boasts practicality, power, and safety while remaining effortlessly manageable—a vision brought to life by Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark Whiteley Design. Adorned with sleek waterlines and towering masts reaching heights of 61 meters, the Sea Eagle commands both elegance and performance. The vast sail area ensures stability and agility, adapting to changing weather conditions. Below deck, the Sea Eagle offers luxurious accommodation, featuring a master suite and six double guest staterooms, each exuding simplicity and functionality—a reflection of the owner's preference for an understated yet refined aesthetic.

The allure of Costa Rica's 800 miles of tropical coastline has attracted adventurous cruisers seeking unique experiences. Renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, Costa Rica stands out as one of the most ecologically diverse destinations globally, despite its modest size comparable to that of West Virginia. The sun-kissed beaches of Guanacaste stand as prime examples of captivating destinations ripe for exploration. As the Sea Eagle graces Costa Rica's pristine shores, today being reported in Drake’s Bay, it represents a fusion of luxury and natural splendor. Amidst the backdrop of Costa Rica's biodiverse coastline, the Sea Eagle's presence invites awe and admiration from all who encounter it.
