Watching the Super Bowl Together in Town

On Sunday, February 8, the Super Bowl took place in the United States, bringing together millions of viewers around one of the most iconic sporting events of the year. The game was played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, where the Seattle Seahawks faced the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, with the Seahawks winning 29-13.

Here in Beach Town, the occasion became a truly special shared moment. Restaurants Celeste and Ponciana joined forces to create a welcoming outdoor viewing experience in Ponciana’s open area, extending into Plaza Danta. The space was designed so residents and visitors could enjoy the game together in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.

The event drew a great crowd and was full of energy. A DJ set the mood, and a large high definition screen anchored the experience. Multiple viewing areas were arranged to ensure clear sightlines for everyone, from lounge style seating to high tables and chairs arranged like a small stadium, making the space feel dynamic and inclusive.

Each restaurant hosted its own bar and offered a Super Bowl themed food and drink menu inspired by the teams on the field. Dishes like fish and chips, nodding to the Seahawks, and a special sandwich inspired by the Patriots added a playful and creative touch to the night.

While the game itself was not especially close and ended in a decisive victory for the Seahawks, the atmosphere remained upbeat throughout. During the halftime show, many guests got up to dance and sing, turning the viewing into a full celebration.

Originally planned for 100 guests, the event exceeded expectations, leading organizers to add 20 additional spots. Approximately 60 percent of attendees were residents and 40 percent were visitors and guests, a clear reflection of how much the community in Town has grown while continuing to attract new faces. The mix of locals and travelers created a lively, welcoming environment that captured the spirit of shared experiences in Las Catalinas.

We are very happy with the success of this event and with seeing so many people come together to watch the game, dance, and enjoy great food. It feels especially meaningful to create a space where cultures and traditions blend. We cherish the opportunity to host such an important international sporting event in a coastal setting like Las Catalinas, where an iconic cultural moment becomes a sweet and meaningful community gathering.
