Let's work together to preserve the beauty of our coastline and make a positive impact on the environment. Bring your enthusiasm, comfortable clothing, a hat, and sunscreen to stay protected while we make a difference.   ### **Nature Does Not Create Waste, Humans Do**    ![BeachCleanUp](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/hs-fs/hubfs/social-suggested-images/BeachCleanUp.jpg?width=1080&height=1080&name=BeachCleanUp.jpg)   In case you need some more compelling reasons to participate in a Guanacaste beach cleanup:    - 100% of baby sea turtles have plastic in their stomachs  - 88% of the sea’s surface is polluted by plastic waste  - 1 in 3 fish caught for human consumption contains plastic  - The world produces 381 million tons of plastic waste yearly and 9% gets recycled    ![las-catalinas-beach-cleanup-costa-rica](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/hs-fs/hubfs/las-catalinas-beach-cleanup-costa-rica.png?width=888&height=1024&name=las-catalinas-beach-cleanup-costa-rica.png)   If you cannot make it to this cleanup, there are plenty of ways to get involved each week and create an impact in neighboring communities that share the ocean with us, especially during the green season when event participation may be reduced. We extend our gratitude to [The Clean Wave](https://www.thecleanwave.org/), a not-for-profit organization in Guanacaste that spearheads year-round beach cleanups in our community, as well as training in zero waste activities. Their hard work is truly commendable.    This event embodies two of Las Catalinas' core values: a deep love for Costa Rica and a commitment to being a positive force in the country caring for nature and working hard to protect and enhance it. Join us for a morning of community, action, and a chance to give back to the beautiful region we call home. [Register here](https://calendly.com/eric-barrios/outdoor-activity-for-beach-cleanup) to reserve your spot for this Friday's beach cleanup.   ## See related posts ## [Sunday, August 11th, 2019.](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-august-11th-2019) [In this Daily: Día de la Madre (Costa Rican Mother’s Day) and the Week Ahead](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-august-11th-2019) [Read more](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-august-11th-2019) ## [Monday, November 18th, 2019.](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-november-18th-2019) [In this Daily: The Pura Vida Ride Paddle Battle and the Intrepid Challenge](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-november-18th-2019) [Read more](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-november-18th-2019) ## [Wednesday, August 28th, 2019.](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-august-28th-2019) [In this Daily: A Look at the National Parks of Costa Rica](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-august-28th-2019) [Read more](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-august-28th-2019) ## [Monday, September 23rd, 2019.](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-september-23rd-2019) [In this Daily: The Monkeys of Guanacaste](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-september-23rd-2019) [Read more](https://thedaily.lascatalinascr.com/daily-september-23rd-2019) #### Subscribe to The Blog, The Daily, The Newsletter, and more Additionally you will receive our occasional newsletter.
