As we gear up for the XTERRA Costa Rica event next weekend, please be advised that the trails in Las Catalinas will be closed to the public on Saturday, August 24th, from 6:00 am to 11:00 am, and on Sunday, August 25th, from 4:30 am to 10:30 am. This exciting event will bring athletes from around the world to compete in triathlons, trail runs, and open water swims, showcasing the beauty and adventure of our town.
Friday, August 23rd, marks the beginning of the event with the XTERRA Expo opening at 1:00 pm at the Conservatory Hotel Santarena and Plaza Danta. Throughout the day, participants can pick up their race packages, check in their bikes, and attend swim practices and race briefings. The day will conclude with the Expo closing at 9:00 pm.
Saturday, August 24th, kicks off early with the Transition Area opening at 4:30 am, followed by the start of the XTERRA Elite Male race at 5:50 am. The day will be filled with various races, including the Full Distance Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon, and a fun Trail Run at 2:30 pm. The Awards Ceremony will take place at 11:30 am, and the day will wrap up with kids' races and briefings for Sunday’s events.
Sunday, August 25th, begins even earlier with the Trail Half Marathon starting at 4:30 am. Open water swims will follow, with the final awards ceremony at 10:30 am, and the event will close at 1:00 pm.
