Last Sunday, April 19th, Steff and Alex hosted their monthly Round Robin, a tennis gathering that has been bringing people together consistently over the past few months.
That day, around twelve players showed up to the courts, each stepping into a format that keeps things moving from the very beginning. Matches are short, doubles, and constantly rotating, which means you’re paired with someone new every time. It doesn’t take long before names turn into familiar faces, and games turn into conversations between points.
What makes this format special is not just the pace, but how naturally it brings people together. You might arrive knowing only one person, or no one at all, and still leave having shared the court with everyone. By the end of the morning, the focus isn’t on scores, but on how much fun everyone had playing.
The group usually gathers around fourteen people, most of them homeowners, though hotel guests and locals are always welcome to join. That mix is part of what gives the event its character, with different stories and backgrounds coming together in one place.
It has also become a way to extend the experience beyond the courts. Many players continue the day by stopping by places like Center of Joy, the Beach Club, or Ponciana, supporting businesses they enjoy while spending more time together.
Steff and Alex lead the Tennis Program through Las Catalinas Doorway, which launched last August. Since then, they’ve contributed so much to the community, creating opportunities for people to stay active, connect, and share moments that go beyond the game itself.
