Help Close the Regenerative Cycle by Composting at Las Catalinas

Finca La Estancia offers an authentic Costa Rica farming experience located just two minutes from Las Catalinas.  La Estancia plays a crucial role in advancing town’s sustainability efforts, helping close the loop in food systems, breaking down construction residuals, and more.La Estancia runs an intricate composting system that incorporates restaurants, residents, and even farm animals to produce high-quality organic compost soil, rich in nutrients. This nutrient-rich compost is then utilized within the farm, and at our plant nursery. It is also generously donated to support local community projects. 

We encourage all homeowners to participate in La Estancia’s composting program, not only for the environmental benefits but for the rewards you receive in return. Composting five times a month entitles you to your choice of a gift of free-range eggs, honey from the farm’s apiary, nutrient-rich compost for garden use, and even access to free pickleball reservations or farm tours. To access these rewards, simply bring your compost materials to Plaza Mercado between Wednesday and Sunday, from 8 AM to 3 PM where they have conveniently placed dedicated compost bins at Vivero La Estancia. The most dedicated composter of the month is also entitled to other perks.
