In this Daily -- Micro Greens with Chef Gilberto Briceño and Sunset Trailblazers Photos
Some great weather today, with temperatures in the low 80s and a steady breeze coming throughout the day. Just after sunrise the heat was low, in the mid 70s, rising slowly as the morning went on before settling just above 80, where it should stay for the rest of the day. Out in the cove the surf should be very mild today, averaging around 1ft or lower, with a high tide right around noon. On the trails, moderate dew point around 68F and the lower temperatures should mean a manageable hike or ride especially late in the afternoon.
Speaking of sunset hikes, the first edition of Sunset Trailblazers was a tremendous success. The team set out from Central in time to reach McHenry peak just as the sun was setting, a scene to which pictures don't do justice. Altogether an excellent start to what will surely be many Sunset Trailblazer hikes to come.
Today at 3pm the Beach Club, one of the head chefs in Las Catalinas, Gilberto Briceño, will be hosting a cooking class on Micro Greens. Gilberto is relatively new to town, having only arrived in October, but has brought with him a combination of international cooking experience, a love of local Costa Rican cooking and ingredients, and a tremendously friendly personality that has helped him immediately fit in to life at las Catalinas. This afternoon will be an excellent chance to meet him and learn about his favorite thing -- cooking with fresh, local ingredients.
