XTERRA Triathlon in Costa Rica to be Hosted at Las Catalinas in 2024
Ten years after its first appearance in Costa Rica, the XTERRA Triathlon arrives at Las Catalinas on August 23, 24th, and 25th, 2023. We can all agree that Las Catalinas is an ideal location for athletes of all sorts.

This event will be a three-day extravaganza of outdoor sports, managed by Performance Solutions, an esteemed Costa Rican events management entity helmed by none other than Leonardo Chacon, a two-time Olympian and distinguished XTERRA veteran.
“For us, it has always been our dream and our goal to bring XTERRA to Las Catalinas. We think everyone deserves the opportunity to discover this amazing place and the unique experience it provides, and on top of that, it is a real authentic XTERRA course,” said Chacon who trained in town’s 25 meter 4-lane outdoor lap pool at the Beach Club during his Olympic preparations.

More About the Spectacular Venue
The main event starts with a 1.5-kilometer swim in Playa Danta, following a 30-kilometer (about 18.64 mi) mountain bike course filled with single-track trails in the forest reserve surrounding town, and finishes with a 10-kilometer trail run along the coast and across stretches of Playa Danta before finishing on the cobblestone streets in Plaza Mercado.
Beyond the Main Event
Alongside the primary event, XTERRA Costa Rica will also present a 30-kilometer trail run, which is a qualifying race for the 2024 XTERRA Trail Run World Championship half-marathon.
Additionally, there will be options for a 5K and 14K trail run, a selection of well-received open-water swims, engaging kids' races, and a lineup of live music throughout the entire weekend.
