Experiencing Las Catalinas: A Homeowner’s Perspective
“I was born and raised in Costa Rica and thought I knew or had heard of every vacation and tourist spot in the country. It was not until after I got married to a woman from California, Meggen Fernandez, that I was introduced to Las Catalinas. She learned about the town after reading an article in Travel and Leisure Magazine and suggested we go there for our honeymoon after getting married in Costa Rica. My first impression was that I had been magically transported out of Costa Rica and into another realm.
As luck would have it, we returned after our honeymoon with our newborn daughter and stayed in the Santarena Hotel in Las Catalinas in a room facing the new townhomes that were being built behind the Center of Joy in early 2021. The moon that night was full and placed right above the unfinished building. I stepped out on the balcony and vowed that I would somehow, some way, move my family to that corner townhome.
The next day, I put a reservation deposit down and we have never looked back. I am convinced this is the best place to raise my children and to live my best life.”
