Last week, this beautiful photograph of a sunset in Town got captured from the street between Punta Penca and Casa Chameleon.
At first glance, it might seem like just another sunset. But despite the unusually dry rainy season we've experienced this year, September and October have brought some very welcome showers. And every now and then, when the afternoon rain takes a break, the lingering clouds catch the light of the setting sun, filling the sky with beautiful colors and giving us quite a show.
Perhaps, living in a place like Las Catalinas, we've grown a little accustomed to so much beauty. We might sometimes forget just how extraordinary it is to live somewhere where the beach is only a short walk from home, where getting around doesn't involve sitting in traffic, and where a sunset like this can be enjoyed just a few steps outside our front doors.
And while this may seem like a simple photograph, it captures something worth appreciating: the beauty of our surroundings, the peace of being able to enjoy them, and the privilege of calling this place home.
Between work, errands, worries, responsibilities, and constantly chasing what's next, it's easy to overlook the little things that make life here so special. But there's always a good reason to slow down for a moment, look around, and feel grateful.
So perhaps tomorrow is a good day to make a little time for the beach. Grab a coffee or your favorite drink, take a walk along the shore, feel the warmth of the late afternoon sun, and enjoy the view without being in a hurry to get anywhere.
After all, some of the best things in life are the ones money can't buy. And sometimes, they're the very things we forget to appreciate because they've been right in front of us all along.
