Apami Wildlife Sanctuary is a center dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of wildlife in Tamarindo, Guanacaste. It was founded in 2007 by a woman who opened the first rescue center of its kind in Costa Rica. Since then, Apami has worked to care for animals affected by collisions, electrocution, illegal trafficking or habitat loss.
At the sanctuary, each animal receives urgent veterinary attention and a safe space to recover. When possible, they are guided back to their natural habitat, which is the mission that has shaped Apami since its beginning.
The sanctuary is funded through visits, yet this past season they received fewer guests than expected. In this edition of The Daily we want to extend an open invitation to residents, visitors and staff members in Town who wish to support their work. A visit helps provide food, medicine and timely veterinary care for the animals that arrive each week.
If you would like to plan a visit to Apami Wildlife Center, volunteer, make a donation or ask for more information you can email info@apamiwildlife.org or contact them through WhatsApp at +506 8608 9950.
Visiting Apami can also be a fun activity during the holidays or the weekend. You can take your kids, see the animals and witness the meaningful work happening there every day.
