Sunset, Community, and Gratitude at Playa Danta

We have shared before how watching the sunset is a daily ritual at the beaches in Town. It is one of those simple moments that quietly brings people together and reminds us why this place is so special.

Recently, after watching the sunset at Playa Danta, the founder of Las Catalinas shared a reflection that resonated deeply with many. Coming from someone who knew this place before it was what it is today, and who has witnessed its transformation over time, these words carried particular meaning. They speak not only of a sunset, but of community, coexistence, and the way this place has brought people together in unexpected and beautiful ways.

We join in that sentiment and share Charles Brewer's warm words with you:

"Sometimes something strikes me in a way that makes me feel a great feeling of goodwill towards my fellow humans. Sunset on the beach tonight was one of those times. I counted 267 people on the beach just after sunset. That is a lot. And what a beautiful bunch of people they were. There were big families, girls taking pictures of each other, a joyful though inept circle of people trying to hit a volleyball, dogs, grandmothers, speedily running little boys, strolling couples, boogey boarders everyone was considerate and well behaved and having a nice time.

Prior to 2011 the average number of people on Playa Danta on a given January 11 would have usually been exactly zero. And now all of these people are choosing to come and enjoy our town and its beach. I guess all of them think that doing so is making their life a little better than it would have been otherwise. And that makes me happy."
