Shaping a New Way to Move Through El Prado: A Future Pedestrian Axis

A new pedestrian connection is beginning to take shape in El Prado, currently being introduced through a temporary set of earth-formed stairs in front of Lantana. This early intervention gradually reveals what will become an important pedestrian axis within the next phase of Town.

While these stairs are being built using compacted earth and wooden structures to hold the terrain, they are part of a larger vision already defined within the master plan. More than just a construction element, this temporary connection is an invitation. It allows the path to be experienced and used from now, while its permanent version will later be materialized through hardscape.

The intention behind this early construction is to begin revealing and encouraging the use of what will become a key pedestrian connection in El Prado. This first visible section, beginning at Lantana’s central staircase, is part of a larger urban sequence that will eventually link Calle del Prado with Las Ramblas del Prado, weaving together plazas, pathways, and gathering spaces along the way.

As this path unfolds, the stairs will lead into Plaza Cachimbo, and continue toward a generous landing at another small plaza known as Paseo de Los Arcos. Plaza Cachimbo takes its name from a tall tree already standing at the center of both plazas. This native species, also known as Cristóbal, will naturally frame the space and offer generous shade to those passing through. Known for its wide canopy and seasonal blooms, it not only provides a cool refuge from the sun, but also supports local biodiversity by attracting pollinators such as bees and birds.

PLAZASAlready in place, the tree stands at the heart of the area now being prepared for this connection, and as a protected species, it will remain a defining element of the space as it continues to take shape.

Together, these elements will form an important urban hub within El Prado, reinforcing the walkability that defines Town.

As Lantana continues to rise, we are beginning to understand how this sequence of stairs and plazas will connect with its surrounding spaces, offering a glimpse of the kind of everyday movement and urban life that is already so present in Beach Town.

While this connection will not yet have its final finishes, it is currently being introduced to begin encouraging pedestrian flow and to facilitate future movement between Lantana, La Rambla, and Main Street. Even at this stage, it is beginning to shape how residents and visitors will navigate the area, while also supporting access to nearby projects currently under construction, such as the single family home in Lot 86 and Montaña.
