Las Catalinas’ Community Impact department is excited to announce a new farm project in Tempate that utilizes the mandala garden technique.
Derived from the Sanskrit word for "circle," a mandala garden is an innovative gardening method that captures precious runoff water, important in a tropical dry forest region, and allows for the growth of abundant vegetables. This permaculture technique features gardens that are typically round and is ideal for small plots of land with shallow or compacted soil to make the most of the space.
The mandala garden offers numerous advantages, including the creation of a diverse ecosystem. The different zones within a mandala garden support a wide range of plants and animals, promoting biodiversity and fostering a resilient and sustainable environment.
This new community garden project aims to enhance local food production and to educate the community on sustainable gardening practices. By implementing the mandala garden technique, this community garden is taking a significant step towards a more sustainable and self-sufficient future.
