Rare Rhinoceros Beetle Relocated to the Surrounding Natural Landscape

A rare find near Copper & Stone: a Rhinoceros Beetle (Megasoma elephas) was recently discovered in town and safely relocated to the nearby tropical dry forest. Known for their impressive horns and size, these beetles are a rarity in the area.

What makes this beetle even more fascinating is its life cycle—before reaching adulthood, the rhinoceros beetle larva spends at least two years living inside a log, feeding on decaying wood. The sighting highlights the richness of our local ecosystem and the importance of preserving its natural beauty.

 Thanks to the quick response of our team, this remarkable insect now has a new home within Las Catalinas’ tropical dry forest.
