Rainy Days and Howler Monkeys in Town

This past weekend and the beginning of this week brought rainier days, whether because October is our rainiest month or due to the effects of Hurricane Melissa. The rains carried with them a distinct sound that instantly pulls the senses back to the present.

The unmistakable howls of the howler monkeys filled the atmosphere throughout the day, reminding us they’re here.

Some Owners even mentioned how nice it is to hear them. Whenever nature becomes noticeable, it draws us out of our thoughts and back into the moment.

Howler monkeys’ calls were once thought to predict or call out the rain, but research shows they’re simply more active during this season, when mating peaks and they move around in search of food such as leaves, fruits, and flowers.

Given that Town integrates many green areas, the tree canopies act like natural highways that allow them to move from Beach Town to the trails and along the beaches, finding places to perch and feed. They’re true Las Catalinas residents, and we’re happy to hear them again.
