During this year’s XTERRA event, the Agroforestales team will lead a special tree planting activity. For the first time, an environmental component will be included in the sporting event, something that fills us with excitement.
The event will take place on Saturday, August 23rd, and is open to XTERRA participants, their friends and families, visitors, collaborators in Catalinas, and anyone who would like to be part of this meaningful task.
A total of 150 trees will be planted at The Nursery. This initiative is expected to generate a carbon sequestration capacity of 3,000 to 4,000 cubic tons over time, helping to offset the event’s carbon footprint, and more.
The way we will achieve this carbon capture is through the natural process of photosynthesis. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. They store the carbon in their biomass and release oxygen back into the air, supporting life and improving environmental quality.
We will be sharing further details such as the meeting time, location and the official post. Stay tuned for more details and for the official invitation so you can join us at the start of this new forest of 150 trees.
