Pewsitive Yoga Connects Community with Rescue Puppies

On April 5, something quietly special unfolded in Town, bringing together movement, connection, and a genuine act of care.

That morning, Center of Joy hosted a thoughtful event in collaboration with Halfway Tamarindo, a local refuge for stray dogs. The idea was simple but meaningful: a yoga class where participants could share the space with puppies, creating a moment where wellbeing extended beyond the individual.

The event, called Pewsitive Yoga, took place at the amphitheater in Plaza Mercado, an open setting with ocean views that made the experience feel even more relaxed and inviting. A total of 26 people joined, each contributing a $20 entry fee, with all proceeds going directly toward supporting the refuge and the care of the dogs.

During the class, six puppies wandered freely among participants, turning what could have been a quiet practice into something more spontaneous and joyful. But beyond the playfulness, there was a deeper intention: to create a space where people could meet the dogs and consider adoption.

By the end of the morning, three of the puppies had found homes, including Canela, who is now part of La Estancia.

This was the first time they held the event, and its outcome speaks for itself. If you’re sad you missed it, stay tuned because we’ll announce it when it returns so you’ll have the chance to practice yoga alongside cute puppies, and maybe even find a new member for you or your family, offering a home and love to a puppy, a friend who will walk alongside you from that day on.
