Halloween is just around the corner, and this year, there is a fun new way to celebrate it on the tennis courts! Las Catalinas Doorway and Pura Vida Tennis are joining forces to host Monster Tennis: Halloween Edition, a two-day tournament taking place on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, bringing together friendly competition, costumes, and a slightly spooky twist on the game.
Unlike a traditional tennis tournament, Monster Tennis introduces a playful 3 vs. 3 format, where each team has two Baseliners and one designated Monster. While the Baseliners play from behind the service line, the Monster stays closer to the net, ready to intercept the ball and earn two points for every winning shot. Teams rotate their Monster each game, giving everyone a chance to take on the role.
And since this is a Halloween edition, costumes are highly encouraged! Along with the Monster Tennis Champions, prizes will be awarded for the Best Individual Costume and Best Team Costume, so participants have an extra reason to get creative.
The tournament will take place on Saturday, October 24, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., and Sunday, October 25, from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. A special Monster Fuel Station will also be available, offering coffee, fresh fruit, snacks, water, electrolytes, and a few Halloween treats to keep everyone energized throughout the games.
Registration is $30 per player, and participants can sign up individually, allowing the organizers to create their teams, or register together as a team of three. The registration deadline is Monday, October 19, and spaces are limited, so we encourage anyone interested to sign up as soon as possible to secure their spot!
Whether you are joining the competition or simply stopping by to enjoy the Halloween atmosphere, it promises to be a fun weekend on the courts, with a little friendly rivalry and plenty of creative costumes!
