A proud moment, the sighting of this large boa four years ago was one of the first major indicators that town's ecosystem was thriving after years of reforesting and protecting the tropical dry forest. We named her Catalina. She makes appearances now and then but stays away from the trails.
Plaza Danta Plaque: 2006
The inauguration of Las Catalinas is immortalized in a plaque proudly displayed in Plaza Danta, the heart of the town. This plaque encapsulates a visionary ethos for Las Catalinas, beckoning all who contribute to town life - from residents and visitors to investors and service providers - to embrace and embody these guiding principles.
The plaque reads:

What you see here today is just the beginning. Las Catalinas is intended to be a place for walking, and much of the town will be car-free. Parque Central in Motion:2024
Parque Central is on the brink of completion. The finishing touches, such as the lining in the retention ponds, stabilization of slopes, steps, and planters, along with the eagerly anticipated sports courts, are all coming together to give the park its final form.
