A Blissful Stay with Beach Town Travel

Frequent Las Catalinas visitor Courtney Coleman recently left a fantastic review after arranging her trip through Beach Town Travel, town’s preferred travel partner. Courtney had an excellent experience that exceeded her expectations, and she graciously shared the highlights of her various stays with us.

“We have visited Las Catalinas many times over the last thirteen years. In 2010 my husband and two of our children found Las Catalinas purely by accident after a local in Playa Flamingo recommended Playa Danta as a place to visit. We spent the day on the beach, renting from Pura Vida Ride. There were only six vacation homes at the time, and they were still being decorated.

We have returned multiple times with all four of our children aged twenty-three, twenty-one, nine, and seven. Each one of them has found something they love about Beach Town. It truly is the best family vacation spot. Our youngest daughter begs us to move there at least once a week, and I agree. It is so nice to let the kids run around without fear of being hit by a car and let them run to Cuatro Calle la Ronda for a snack and mom’s coffee fix.

They adore the swing on the beach outside Celeste. We love spending time paddle boarding as a family. The entire town is so peaceful. You do not realize how noisy vehicles are until they are gone. Perhaps the walking seems daunting, but once you are in Las Catalinas you realize how enjoyable the walks are. Everything is a five-minute walk and there are beautiful fountains, foliage, bridges, and other enjoyable sights all along the walkways.

Las Catalinas has become our go-to place. I spent my fortieth birthday there, my daughter turned twenty-one there, we spent our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary there, and many times in between just because. It is truly our home away from home. Costa Rica stole our hearts in 2003, but Las Catalinas is our place to relax and recharge as a family.

Do not forget the House Moms, they are the icing on the vacation cake. They prepare your family a homemade traditional Costa Rican breakfast, with fresh fruit, eggs, gallo pinto, fried plantains, and toast. Plus, they straighten the house and keep your laundry and towels washed. It is so nice not having to worry about cooking and cleaning a big breakfast before a day of adventure or a day spent at the amazing spa! After all, who wants to do laundry while on vacation? House moms are the gem of a vacation to Las Catalinas.

One of these days I will convince my husband to buy a home in Las Catalinas. Alabama is too cold in the winter, and I would take a sweltering April in Las Catalinas over a bleak frozen February in Alabama. It has been a year since our last trip, and we are all in withdrawal after visiting four times in 2020,2021, and 2022. We cannot wait to return to our adopted home away from home."
