Lyre Snake Sighting in Plaza Danta

Last Friday, a beautiful Lyre snake was spotted in Plaza Danta, adding a touch of wilderness to our day. Thanks to the quick response of Wilfredo Arguedas from Las Catalinas Security, the snake was safely and swiftly relocated. The snake was healthy and unharmed, making it an ideal candidate for relocation rather than needing medical attention.

The Lyre snake, known for its distinctive V-shaped head pattern that resembles a lyre, is a non-venomous species native to Central America. Although generally shy and harmless to humans, they can still be intimidating due to their appearance.

What to Do if You Spot Wildlife in Las Catalinas:

• Healthy Animals: If you come across a healthy wild animal, like a snake, Agroforestales or Las Catalinas Security will relocate it to the reserve area.
• Injured or Unusual Condition: If the animal appears injured or exhibits unusual behavior, it should be taken to the vet for a check-up before being transferred to Apami, the animal rescue center in Portegolpe.
