Las Catalinas Shares XTERRA Costa Rica in Alabama

In mid May, our Residential Sales Director traveled to Alabama to take part in XTERRA Alabama at Oak Mountain State Park, one of the biggest events on the 2026 XTERRA calendar.

This year, the event hosted the 2026 XTERRA North American Championship, the Youth North American Championship for athletes ages 14 to 19, and the 2026 USA Triathlon Youth and Junior Cross National Championship. For many elite and professional athletes, events like this are an important part of the season, offering a chance to earn points, maintain their category, and continue growing within the sport.

The purpose of the visit was meaningful: to share Las Catalinas with more of the XTERRA community, and to invite athletes, families, and outdoor enthusiasts to discover what makes racing here such a special experience. XTERRA Costa Rica will take place in Town from August 21 to 23, 2026.

The day at Oak Mountain was a beautiful one. The weather was sunny, the atmosphere was energetic, and the conversations were full of genuine curiosity. Many people stopped by to ask about Costa Rica, Las Catalinas, the trails, the ocean, and what it is like to spend a few days in Town during XTERRA weekend.

There was also a familiar and very sweet element, as several Las Catalinas residents who live in the area came by to say hello, turning the visit into something that felt less like a formal promotion and more like a small extension of our community, just a little farther from home.

The response was very encouraging. Beyond the interest from athletes and families, the conversations also opened the door to new possibilities for XTERRA Costa Rica, including the potential to continue strengthening its position within the XTERRA circuit. This could help attract even more athletes from different categories, especially advanced and competitive racers, and make the Costa Rica edition an even more exciting stop on the international calendar.

For Las Catalinas, that possibility feels especially fitting. Here, the race experience goes beyond the course itself. Athletes can train on the trails, swim in open water, walk from their accommodations to restaurants and plazas, spend time with their families, and enjoy Town before and after race day.

All in all, it was a great sunny weekend at Oak Mountain, filled with conversations, long lines of interested visitors, and the shared excitement of introducing more people to Costa Rica.

We are always happy to welcome new guests to Las Catalinas, especially those who arrive ready to explore the trail system, enjoy the beach views, and experience the warm, active, and welcoming Town we know and love.
