Las Catalinas Nursery in process of renovation

We’re excited to share that the Las Catalinas nursery is resuming operations and preparing to open its doors to the public once again. As soon as all works have finished, we'll announce the official opening date.

Some time ago, the agroforestry team began tending to and propagating the nursery’s plants. Many of these species have already been used throughout Town’s common areas, including recent plantings along Main Street.

Now, new plans are underway. One key addition is a “picturescape,” where visitors can view different species arranged in garden-style compositions. This visual guide will help inspire planting ideas and support better-informed choices for home gardens.

More than just a plant shop, the nursery is being reimagined as a place to experience. This is why you'll be able to find tables and chairs, to encourage visitors to pause, read, meditate, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment surrounded by nature.

LC Nursery 13One of the longer-term goals is to create an arboretum featuring native species of the Guanacaste Dry Forest. Much like a living library, it will serve as a space for learning, reflection, and preservation: a lasting gift for future generations.

The nursery is currently under renovation. Planting along the entry road is still in progress, along with upgrades to the rest areas and bathrooms. But little by little, the space is transforming into something beautiful.

LC Nursery 4During XTERRA, we’ll be hosting a tree planting event in the area, which will be announced soon. The goal is to encourage connection and stewardship while helping to offset the carbon footprint of Las Catalinas’s most important sporting event of the year.

Rooted in nature and wellbeing, the new Las Catalinas nursery will be far more than a plant shop. It will be a living expression of Town’s values, and a place to witness beauty, stillness, and peace.
