Dry Season Reminder: Prevention, Awareness & Community Care

As we move deeper into Guanacaste’s dry season, conditions such as low humidity, strong winds, and dry vegetation naturally increase the risk of fires across the region. While these situations are common for this time of year, they serve as an important reminder of the role we all play in prevention and collective care.

Recently, a small, independent fire occurred in a nearby area, unrelated to Las Catalinas, with no direct impact on our community. However, due to seasonal winds associated with Cold Front No. 11, our team continues to monitor conditions closely as part of our preventive approach.

As a community, we kindly remind homeowners and residents that:

  • Keeping lots and properties properly cleared and maintained is mandatory and remains one of the most effective preventive measures during the dry season.

  • Smoke from external fires can occasionally travel with the wind. If you notice strong odors or visible smoke, we recommend keeping windows closed for health and safety reasons.

Travel note during dry season conditions

Fires in the Liberia area have also affected travel conditions, with some flights experiencing delays or cancellations. We appreciate everyone’s patience when traveling to and from the airport during this time.

For the most accurate, real-time updates, please check flight status directly with Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport or your airline.

Thank you for your awareness, responsibility, and cooperation as we navigate the dry season together. Staying informed and prepared helps keep our community safe.
