In this Daily -- Piñatas and Las Pintas

A cool morning and a warm afternoon today, with temperatures peaking the mid 80s, some clouds in the afternoon, and a slowly building wind from the north throughout. Temperatures will start in the high 70s and rise quickly after about 9am, peaking in the mid 80s at lunchtime and staying there throughout the afternoon, before falling off around sunset. The breeze will start slow today, below 5 mph at sunrise out of the northeast, and build steadily to a little over 10mph by this evening without much of a change in direction. Out in the cove, the steady northeasterly breeze won't have much effect on the surf, which should be steady between 1-2 feet throughout the day thanks to some offshore swell. On the trails, this morning before 9am will be the best time to be out on the trails, as well as this evening after 4pm.

Yesterday marked the last day of Las Pintas, in which each hour of the day from 6am to 6pm represents a month of the year, and there was a scarily accurate representation of the usual weather throughout a Costa Rican year. Temperatures tend cooler and breezy at the start of the year, with a strong consistent wind from the east, before transitioning into a tremendously clear yet warmer season as the year goes on. A little more than a third of the way through the year around May the first clouds start to appear, with sun still the predominant force, and the wind dies out around the middle of the year, becoming more unpredictable, with a heavier set of cloud cover moving into the heart of October and November. Finally, the temperatures fall slightly again, with the clouds retreating to clear skies in December. Interesting to see all of this essentially happening over the course of yesterday! Stay tuned for the Las Catalinas Yearly Weather forecast tomorrow.

A lot going on in town else wise today. At 9am, there will be a town talk with Las Catalinas experts for some pro tips on how to make the most out of your Las Catalinas stay, and in the afternoon there will be a Piñata party at 3pm at Limonada, which is always a hit especially for younger guests. Finally, in the afternoon Limonada will be hosting their Sunset Happy Hour from 4-6pm, and Sunset Trailblazers will be departing for an evening hike from Central at 4:45pm.
