This morning I heard at Plaza Central’s corridor “yalla, yalla!”. It’s been many many years since I last heard that phrase. It’s an informal way of saying “hurry up” or “let’s get going” in Arabic. It was a mom talking to her 2 children who were running late for their swimming lesson at the Beach Club. It was so refreshing to hear this, and a reminder that we are in a multicultural environment, which for me has so much value. Town’s residents, homeowners, daily visitors, guests and the team are a lovely mix of nationalities. I look forward to hearing more and more versions of “chop chop”, “póngale”, “andiamo”, “allez allez”, …
