An excellent day for outdoor sports this Saturday, with temperatures in the low 80s, lower humidity around 70%, scattered clouds, and a cool breeze coming off the ocean to keep the conditions manageable. A high tide this morning coupled with comparatively low winds in the bay kept wave action to a minimum, setting the stage for prime paddle boarding conditions. Expect more of the same throughout the day with the clouds sticking around intermittently, and the chance of brief showers as we approach midafternoon.

The morning started off with a thrilling competition the Elite race, which saw first place traded back and forth three times over the course of the hour long race and fierce battles everywhere in the pack, including a photo finish for 4th place that came down to the tip of a paddle. However, the ultimate winners were Marcel Oliveira and Valerie Salustri, who won the male and female divisions and will help lead the Costa Rican National Team into the Pan American Championships.

As of time of writing, competitors are in the thick of the Recreativo race, pitting some of the best of Las Catalinas's local competitors as they challenge the 5k course. To come are the kids race and the Dragon SUP, which will round out the afternoon.

Keep an eye on the Las Catalinas Facebook and Instagram for more coverage throughout the day, and for videos and highlights of the event.
