In this Daily -- New Year's Eve around Las Catalinas
A warm and sunny day to wrap up 2018, with a steady breeze from the east throughout. Temperatures will start in the high 70s just after dawn, before rising quickly during the morning and peaking in the mid to high 80s from lunch throughout the afternoon, and falling off rapidly as the sun sets. The breeze should be strong and steady, around the mid teens, and consistently out of the east throughout the day. Out in the cove, the offshore winds will combine with a relatively low swell to keep the wave action relatively mild today, around 1 ft with a few larger waves during breaks in the breeze. On the trails, most of the morning should bring manageable temperatures thanks to the breeze, and a sunset hike to wrap up the year will be excellent.
Expect a clear evening tonight with no projection of clouds and especially clear weather, ideal for viewing the fireworks and lights of the New Year's celebrations.
It's New Year's Eve in Las Catalinas, and there's a lot going on in town as we say goodbye to memories of 2018 and welcome the new opportunities of 2019. The biggest celebration going on will be at Limonada, who will be hosting their first ever New Year's Eve food festival in Playa Danta, with live music on the beach and dancing throughout the evening. With everything from meats and seafood on an open fire grill to handmade tacos to fresh oysters and ceviche, and even options for younger guests, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Wherever you are in town though, the clear evening and a warm breeze should be excellent conditions to spend time with family and friends, enjoy some good food and good company, and welcome in the New Year.
As we all get ready to celebrate, we'd love to see some of your favorite moments from 2018, and hear what you're most looking forward to in 2019. If you'd like to share, post your favorite photo from 2018 on Instagram with #CatalinasNewYear, and in the caption say what you're most looking forward to in 2019! Can't wait to hear back.
