During this evening’s 6:21pm moonrise, 15 minutes after sunset, keep an eye to the eastern night sky over the ridge and the reserve for a full moon, which is at 100% illumination. Yesterday evening the moon was nearly full (at 99.4% illumination), reaching up to 99.8% before moonset at 6:03am this morning.

This evening also coincides with the closest the moon orbits to earth during this lunar cycle. Combined with a moderate breeze around 8mph, and cool temperatures in the high 70s, tonight will be excellently suited for a late evening stroll under a big, bright, and beautiful moon.
