The cool waters and warm air temp this morning are a well-suited combination for an early morning hike or bike ride followed by a walk along the beach to Dantita during low tide or a splash into the ocean to cool off. A few like-minded visitors were spotted departing along Playa Danta early this morning with the same intuition.
Both the cooler water temperatures (around the mid-70s) and warmer air temperatures (82 at sunrise and climbing to high 80s by midday) are byproducts of the trade winds that began last week. These winds bring warm air from further inland and push warmer surface water out to sea to bring an upwelling of cool water upwelling. Expect more of the same as that breeze continues into March and April.
